Darkstar perform ‘Dance Unity’ at The Royal Festival Hall

July 17, 2017

Darkstar were commissioned to write a new piece of music with organist James McVinnie as part the 2017 PRS New Music Biennial. Entitled ‘Dance Unity’ the piece was inspired by Hull as a city and the Dance Unity parties that were held there in the early 90’s, with a focus on trying to create a piece that oscillates through a series of movements and emotions. Dance Unity is an appropriate reaction to the positivity galvanised in the recent election and the context draws parallels in trying to display a unified front in times of adversity.

Bok Bok’s ‘Salvage 2017’ EP is out now

June 9, 2017

Bok Bok’s first solo EP in three years, ‘Salvage 2017’, is out now via Night Slugs.

‘My first solo release for a while, I wanted to go down a more realist path and reflect how I’d been feeling and how the world around me had been feeling more and more stormy, on every level. Sometimes during trying times a dark sense of humour is all we have to carry us through. These tracks are also fuel for the fire, built for MCs, radio shows, dj mixes. – Hope you enjoy’ – Bok Bok
